  • “GESTALT FOUNDATION NEWS” (2004)

The Gestalt Foundation since very early on, by 2004, has decided to expand in the field of publishing.

This started with the biannual publication of the Centers’ newsletter “GESTALT FOUNDATION NEWS”, which includes texts on theory, a great number of articles, interviews and book presentations.

  • “Introduction to Gestalt Psychotherapy” (2011)

Within the framework of a complete and organized training program on Gestalt psychotherapy and taking into account that the Bibliography on Gestalt psychotherapy in Greek was poor, Gestalt Foundation decided that it was necessary to publish a handbook introducing trainees to the Gestalt psychotherapy approach in their first steps of comprehension. To do so its founding members authored and published a handbook titled “INTRODUCTION TO GESTALT PSYCHOTHERAPY: BASIC CONCEPTS, PRINCIPLES AND APPLICATIONS” (2011).

The handbook contains an introduction to Gestalt psychotherapy, a presentation of its basic concepts, principles and applications, based on a rich bibliography by acknowledged and well-respected authors-teachers, Gestalt therapist and supervisors. It includes a retrospective on the Gestalt therapy history, its evolution through time and the range of its application. Finally it provides an extensive bibliography that is available to trainees in order to help them in their studies.

The Gestalt Foundation founding members, Yianna Yiamarelou, Antonia Konstantinidou, Despina Balliou, Katia Hatzilakou are responsible for writing and publishing this handbook, with the collaboration of the Centers’ standing training collaborator George Diplas and the help of Antigoni Orfanou, George Stamatis, Konstantinos Kostas and Hrisoula Stevi.

  • Gestalt Therapy: Theory & Practice (2000)

Always keeping in mind the need to enrich the Bibliography on Gestalt theory in Greek in 2015 the Gestalt Foundation, Psychotherapy & Training Center, decided to edit and reprint in Greek the book “Gestalt Therapy: Theory & Practice” Edwin Nevis (Editor).

“Gestalt Therapy: Theory & Practice” (2000) is a classic handbook which with its publication in 1992 marked a worldwide regeneration of interest in the study of the Gestalt therapy approach.

In this book Edwin Nevis, one of the most prominent authors, thinkers and Gestalt psychotherapist of the last 40 years, has made a clever selection from a series of essays, written by Gestalt therapist, that although maintain their individuality and uniqueness, have a common thread which is the clarity of perspective and commitment to the development and promotion of the Gestalt therapy model. It includes essays by: Ilana Rubenfeld, Sonia Nevis, Gordon Wheeler, Joel Latner, Robert Goulding, Joseph Zinker, Violet Oaklander, Joseph Melnick, Cynthia Harris and others…

Both of these books “INTRODUCTION TO GESTALT PSYCHOTHERAPY: BASIC CONCEPTS, PRINCIPLES AND APPLICATIONS” (2011) “Gestalt Therapy: Perspectives & Application”, Edwin Nevis, are available in the POLITEIA and IANOS bookstores as well as other selected bookstores throughout Greece.

  • “THE ART OF CHANGE-GESTALT: A DIFFERENT APPROACH FOR ORGANIZATIONS” 2016

Gestalt Foundation, in order to help create a basic handbook in Greek, for the Gestalt in Organizations workshops, encouraged the personal interest shown by two of its trainers George Stamatis and Ioanna Rizou, and that resulted to the publication of this handbook. The first part of the book includes a translation by Ioanna Rizou of Frans Meulmeester book, which analyzes the Gestalt theory as a factor of creative change in Organizations. In the second part with George Stamatis, they coauthored two more segments: the first connects the world of Organizations, Businesses and management with the Gestalt approach, and the second introduces case studies that showcase the way in which the Gestalt approach “works” in Organizations & Businesses in the applied and practical field.

The result of these efforts is the publication of this book: “THE ART OF CHANGE-GESTALT: A DIFFERENT APPROACH FOR ORGANIZATIONS” available in both Greek (from I. Sideris publications) and English.

  • “THE HEALING RELATIONSHIP IN GESTALT THERAPY” (2018)

In May 2018, the excellent book “The Healing Relationship in Gestalt therapy” was published in Greek by the I. Sideris publications. Authors of the book are Rich Hycner and Lynne Jacobs, third generation Gestalt therapists.

The translation of the book was carried out by Mrs. Athanasia Karagiannopoulou while the scientific editing of the translation belongs to Mrs. Despina Balliou, founding member of the Gestalt Foundation. The whole project was completed within 2 years.

Great therapists and theoreticians of the Gestalt approach recognize this book as valuable, which adds depth and further confirms the primary concepts of Gestalt therapy, a «must read» book both for therapists and theoreticians as well as for learners of any experiential level.

  •  “DI-ERGASIES” (“Processes”) periodical publication (2018)

In May 2018, another edition, by the Gestalt Foundation, was released. It is about the 1st issue of the first periodical edition in Greek, dedicated to Gestalt psychotherapy, under the distinguished title “Di-Ergasies” (“Processes”).

The "Di-Ergasies" periodical edition was derived from the wealth of the written essays, presentations and dissertations of the center trainees, which have been accumulated over the 20 years of the Gestalt Foundation operation, as a therapeutic and training center and the initiative was aimed at sharing this wealth with all those who are interested in Gestalt psychotherapy!

At the beginning, the idea was for the Gestalt Foundation to publish a single book but, as it turned out, a book was not enough to accommodate all this volume of such rich content and proceeded to the bold endeavor of the periodical edition!

This first issue focuses on a review of the historical evolution of Gestalt therapy, as well as presentations of topics such as holism, phenomenology, field theory, dialogue and commitment!

In time, the second, as well all the next issues, will be published as well.

  • SQUARE FLOOR - Poetry meets Gestalt Therapy”.

The Gestalt Foundation, Psychotherapy and Training Center, is moved and delighted to present the poetic collection entitled: "Square Floor" - Poetry meets Gestalt therapy.

The inspirational writer behind the collection is Dimitris Diomataris, who transformed what he experienced during a cycle of gestalt experiential workshops into words that reflect the poetic depth of gestalt therapy.

The collection, whose illustrations were edited by graphic designer Emmanouela Mathioudaki, was offered as a gift to everyone who attended the very successful Gestalt Foundation’s 20-year one day anniversary Conference which took place on Sunday, the 9th of December, in Athens. It will be available for purchase at the IANOS and POLITEIA book stores from the 20th of December 2018.
